Welcome to my volunteer life
Job Town
House on fire

My first job

In this fire, I had just went home. I was hanging out doing homework at the firehouse. When I get home, as soon as I layed down, my pager went off and the town siren started blaring. I quickly drove down the street and suited up. My engine arrived right with me. We quickly got the water flowing and put out the fire. It was around 12am and I was on the car fire. This car took a while, there was gasoline tanks inside the car that kept reigniting the fire. I then was asked to help on the roof to ventilate the house. I climbed up the ladder and cut a hole in the roof to let the smoke out. I then went in again for overhaul and to apply foam so it does not reignite. The only room that survived was the two in the back because the door was closed.

Small fire
rear porch fire

Small porch fire

In this rear porch fire, I was at home when the call came in around 3am. I was driven to the scene and then quickly got suited up in the truck. I went to the rear where everything was and made a push down the stairs. On the left side under the window the small roof looking thing had stairs to go down. I went donwn the stairs with a thermal imaging camera and backed up the hose line. We then saw that an old style furnace had caught fire and was burning the porch. We quickly put out the fire and then did an overhaul to make sure everything was out. The kitchen upstairs had a lot of checking for extension due to the heat rising. The rest of the house was in good condition, the second floor and a room downstairs where the door was closed.

MVA
car accident

Motor Vehicle Accident

I was fist invited to a christmas detail. It is like a small parade, less than 5 minutes driving down a street with lights and sirens on. On our way there, we noticed smoke in the roadway. We ended up running into this accident. The driver quickly told dispatch that we are taking the call in since we were there probably 3 minutes after the accident happened. We quickly suited up and grabbed our equipment. We had E-draulics to cut the door off and the roof. EMS got to the scene right after we had opened the car up making it easy for them to transport the patient.
